Oklahoma Concealed Carry License

Oklahoma’s Self-Defense Act authorizes the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) to issue concealed carry licenses to individuals who meet certain requirements in our state. You must have a valid concealed carry license in order to carry a concealed or unconcealed handgun.

Eligibility

OSBI conducts thorough background investigations of anyone who applies for a concealed carry license, including medical records, criminal history and other related records. Certain criminal convictions could keep you from receiving your license, including DUI.

DUI and Concealed Carry License

A misdemeanor conviction is not enough to keep you from obtaining a concealed carry license in Oklahoma; and because a first-offense DUI is filed as a misdemeanor in our state, it is unlikely that one DUI on your record will render you ineligible.

However, any felony conviction could make obtaining a concealed carry license impossible, including a felony DUI. Similarly, if you have a record of repeat misdemeanor convictions.
